She made her maiden cruise in January, 2003 from Southampton to Madeira and Canary Islands then The Barbados, Saint-Thomas and Fort Lauderdale (California).
Her transatlantic crossing took place in April, 2003. She became a greater legendary ship for Cunard fleet when her illustrious predecessor QE2 (Queen Elizabeth 2) was removed from the fleet in November and sold to Dubai interests in 2008.
She achieves today 13 years of sailings in transatlantic crossing and cruises around the world. The company decided to remaster her and to define new arrangements and decoration by working again the tradition, the luxury and the excellence.
After the modifications intervened in 2005 concerning the extension of the bridge, it's the second real visible modification from the outside: a new deck will be added on the upper deck to create new cabins there: only 1/5 of the length of the superstructure will be concerned, that will modify only a little in the outside aspect of the liner.
Important modifications are done inside at the moment (in June, 2016) in rooms and lounges: Winter Garden, King's Court restaurant, Princess Grill, stateroom for single guest are created, and new decoration of luxury cabins. New name will be given. New high standard menus will be done for restaurants.
These important changes are going to contribute to increase the legend of this exceptional ocean liner which is unique: she is the only one able to cross the Atlantic Ocean in safety conditions rough weather or not and is able to reach a speed superior to 29 knots: she is the last real transatlantic liner.
