The passenger ship " Queen Elizabeth " has just been put afloat in shipyards Fincantieri Monfalcone (Italy) ;
it is a cruise liner which takes back in the transatlantic passenger ship the tradition, the dress and the look without the speed and the resistance in front of the storm. It is the sister-ship of "Queen Victoria".
The passenger ship " Queen Elizabeth " or "QE3" will be in the traditional spirit of her predecessors and will join :
- the Cunard running fleetmates " Queen Mary 2 ", the unique and real transatlantic passenger ship capable of navigating in North Atlantic in all weathers, built by the Atlantique Shipyards STX Europe in Saint-nazaire
- and the passenger ship " Queen Victoria " sister-ship builds in Fincantieri shipyards and entered service in 2008.
She takes back the name of two other passenger ships of Cunard : "Queen Elizabeth" of 1940 (313 m of length) who navigated until 1969 for Cunard with "Queen Mary" today prreserved to Long Beach Los Angeles (United States), she was the rival of the famous passenger ship "Normandie" ; - and the most famous " Queen Elizabeth 2 " "QE2" rival of the passenger ship "France", who navigated from 1969 till 2008 for Cunard, she is today moored in Dubai with an uncertain future.
The inaugural journey of the new " Queen Elizabeth " will take place in October, 2010 from Southampton towards the Canary Islands.
